Verhaeghe Duchesse De Bourgogne

A deliscious wild ale. It is both sweet and sour, but probably more sweet. Lots of different fruit flavors

Verhaeghe Duchesse De Bourgogne - Verhaeghe - Vichte, Belgium

Jailhouse Conjugal Visit

Maybe a little more hop bitterness than your would expect in an Amber Ale, but it is still a nice easy drinking summer beer. I paired it with a little goat cheese and some Italian Herb crackers for an afternoon smack.

Victory Summer Love

More Taco Mac lunch action. Not a bad little pale/blond ale. Reminded me a lot of a Dale's. Lot's of hoppy goodness.

Victory Summer Love - Victory Brewing Company - Downington, PA

Widmere Brothers Pitch Black IPA

A little lunch time Taco Mac action. Nice hoppy action with an excellent roasted malt flavor. I am usually not much of a fan of "Black" IPAs, but I quite enjoyed this one. Went well with my chicken wings.

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA

Yowza! Tons of citrus and pine hops balanced with a ton if sweet malt wrapped up in an ass load of alcohol. (18% ABV) Oh... And about 400 calories!

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA - Dogfish Head Craft Brewery - Milton, DE

Belhaven Wee Heavy

This beer is wee heavy! For some reason I love saying Wee Heavy! Very rich and sweet. Toffee, Carmel, roasted Malts, ripe dark fruit and wee heavy.

Belhaven Wee Heavy - Belhaven Brewery - Dunbar, Scotland

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/belhaven-wee-heavy--90-shilling-bottle/4314/

JailHouse Midnight Special India-style Black Ale

This is really more like an imperial stout than a black IPA in my opinion. Either way, it is delicious. Nose is deep chocolate and roasted grains. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malts, and bitter hops. 10% ABV is very well hidden. I should have bought more bottles.

Shiner Blonde

Pretty boring and definitely not one of Shiner's best beers. Easy enough to drink, but that's about all I can say.

Shiner Blonde - Spoetzl Brewery - Shiner, TX

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/shiner-blonde/910/

Mission St. Brown Ale

Not a bad little brown ale, and considering it was $1.99 for a 22oz at Trader Joes, you can't beat it for the price. It won't make you slap your momma or anything, but it has a nice roasted barley flavor with little sweet brown sugar and a hint of hop bitterness.

Mission St. Brown Ale - Steinhaus Brewing Company - Paso Robles, CA

Spaten Optimator

Pretty nice. Roasted nuts and an almost molasses like flavor. Went well with my grilled pork chops.

Spaten Optimator - InBev - Germany

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/spaten-optimator/2094/

Southern Tier Hoppe

This has a sort of sweet hop aroma like a grapefruit dipped in honey. Flavor is similar and comes in three waves citrus hops, honey, and a long piney hops finish. Pretty good in my opinion.

Sierra Nevada The Best of Beer Camp #37 Weizenbock

Great Divide Fresh Hop

7/20 #2: As you can tell, it pours with a huge foamy head that stays for a while. However, one of my pet peeves is a beer with a bunch of sediment and shit floating it in. I just don't like it and this has a TON of shit floating in it. Base on that it is a fail for me personally. I can handle some sediment, but the first pour shouldn't have crap all in it after it's been sitting for several weeks.

Lakefront Rendezvous

The bottle promised a intense fleeting episode on my palate (a rendezvous). I didn't quite get that, but I did enjoy the experience. This probably won't win any style awards and is more malty sweet than you might expect in a farmhouse ale, but it was still quite nice and refreshing.

Lakefront Rendezvous - Lakefront Brewery - Milwaukee, WI

Wells Banana Bread Beer

7/19 #2: Earlier I said to myself, "self, I sure would like some banana bread", but I didn't feel like baking. What's the next best thing? Why banana bread beer of course. This smells like fresh banana bread and flavor is banana bread and an artificial banana flavor like banana laffy taffy. I still enjoyed it however.

Wells Banana Bread Beer - Wells & Young's - Bedford, UK

21st Amendment Back in Black

Lots of rich roasted malt flavor backed up with bitter citrus and piney hops. Not bad, but I would rather have an old traditional IPA personally. So far my personal tastes have not wanted to come back for more black IPA's. That's just personal preference though.

21st Amendment Back in Black - 21st Amendment Brewery - Cold Springs, MO

Tyskie Gronie

7/17 #3: since the US lost I figure I would morn the defeat with a Polish beer. This is just another rather boring lager. Easy to drink, nothing else to report.

Tyskie Gronie - Tyskie Browary - Poland

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/tyskie-gronie/4989/

Widmer Hefeweizen

7/17 #2: not much of a Hefeweizen. Pretty watered down and flavor is mainly just wheat. OK for a poolside beer I suppose.

Widmer Hefeweizen - Widmer Brothers Brewing Company - Portland, OR

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/widmer-brothers-hefeweizen/606/

Steinlager Pure

Victory Helios Ale

7/15 #2: So many bubbles streaming up from the middle of my tulip I thought it might create a maelstrom In my glass. Pretty nice Saison. Sweet with lemon, pepper and spices. Maybe a little heavy on the ABV side for a Saison.

Victory Helios Ale - Victory Brewing Company - Downington, PA

Bison Organic IPA

This is a really nice IPA in my opinion. So refreshing and easy drinking. Nice light floral and pine notes on the nose. Taste is light and refreshing piney hops with a nice long dry, bitter finish. Hops are not quite as "in your face" as many West Coast IPAs. Two thumbs up from me.

Mad River Steelhead DIPA

7/14 #2: Lots of sweet malt and fruit aromas in the nose and the taste is also sweet fruit, apricot&peachy, and of course citrus&pine hops, but not a hop wallop you might expect. Pretty easy to drink and well balanced.

Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast

Beer, it's not just for breakfast any more, nor is breakfast beer only for breakfast. It is perfectly acceptable at dinner, or pre-dinner in this case. This is a very tasty stout filled with coffee and rich chocolate goodness. Would go nicely with some Nutella crepes. Now where the hell is my crepe pan!

Unibroue Raftman

7/12 #2: I taste caramel malts with just a wisp of smokiness in the finish. I was expecting more smoke, but for me that is not always a good thing in beer. I don't want my beer to taste like I have been eating coals from the campfire. Pretty nice beer

Unibroue Raftman - Unibroue - Chambly, Canada
